A Daily Reminder You Belong

This is your daily reminder that you belong: 🌷🌿 I have 20 years experience in Psychology. I have taught it at university. I am a Psychologist now. I have even had Psychosis twice. I have been in hospital myself. So I have been an academic, a professional and a patient. #HealingTrauma #Justice4Humanity #YouBelong

I have been suicidal too. All of this I recovered from and came back to find wellbeing. So do not let anyone let you believe it is the end. It feels like the end. But it is not the end. We just need our basic needs (survival), some health (body), clarity (mind), with a sprinkle of devotion (heart): connection (energy).

“We do not need to keep searching for the answers. Learn to stand still and the answers will arrive… it really is that simple.” – Mary Anne Byrne

The byproduct of these ingredients is peace, joy, love, compassion, blissfulness and ecstasy. All of these come from within. Happiness is an inside job. We only need our basic needs for survival and to follow the Law to avoid trouble. Beyond that life is yours.

Freedom is knowing that life is beyond survival and laws, rules and regulations. That is only for society. Life itself is borderless and boundless. However, to experience this it must be nameless. Otherwise it becomes “this” or “that” and it is cut in half. You cannot cut life in half.

So always remember a child is not born chopped in half. Every child is born whole. We are all whole. They are all whole. You are whole. Only society teaches us that we are half. More or less. Never enough. However, which one is bigger? Society or life?

Life is far far far greater than any society. So choose life. Remain whole. This is clarity. Clarity is freedom. That is why the byproduct is peace and joy is peace dancing with love, compassion, blissfulness and ecstasy. All come from within. No matter what those in power do.

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” – Mawlana Jala-al-Din Rumi.

They cannot take away the sky. No matter what they say. They can never take away our freedom to love one another. If you talk to yourself like this for sure you will feel better and want to stay alive. Because this is a universal truth inside all of us.

We just need to remind ourselves daily. I find this works every time. So I wish you the best of luck and I am so proud of what you are doing. Thank you for your contribution to humanity. Fighting the fight to remind them, hello, it is the 21st century!

We already have the solutions. Survival of the Fittest has been debunked. It is time we all put the “fight mode” down. All we need is to surrender, with sense and compassion, and step into this call: Life. We all belong. You belong. 💜🕊 #HealingTrauma #Justice4Humanity #YouBelong

Pia Klemp, the German ship captain who rescued migrants in the Mediterranean, and refused a medal from the mayor of Paris:

“I’m not a humanitarian. I am not there to ‘aid’. I stand in solidarity. We do not need medals. We do not need authorities deciding about who is a ‘hero’ and who is ‘illegal’. In fact they are in no position to make this call, because we are all equal.

What we need are freedom and rights. It is time we call out hypocrite honoring and fill the void with social justice. It is time we cast all medals into spearheads of revolution! Documents and housing for all! Freedom of movement and residence!”‘

Now you know the power of Trauma Informed Care. Let’s turn this framework into a mindset for personal, social and political change. If you are unable to, you might need help first, to get safe or become ‘unstuck’ from trauma. Reach out for trauma informed care. #YouBelong

James Blunt – You’re Beautiful (2014):

“My life is brilliant
My love is pure
I saw an angel
Of that I’m sure
She smiled at me on the subway
She was with another man
But I won’t lose no sleep on that
‘Cause I’ve got a plan
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful, it’s true
I saw your face in a crowded place
And I don’t know what to do
‘Cause I’ll never be with you
Yes, she caught my eye
As we walked on by
She could see from my face that I was
Fucking high
And I don’t think that I’ll see her again
But we shared a moment that will last ’til the end
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful, it’s true
I saw your face in a crowded place
And I don’t know what to do
‘Cause I’ll never be with you
La-la-la, la
La-la-la, la
La-la-la, la, la
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful, it’s true
There must be an angel with a smile on her face
When she thought up that I should be with you
But it’s time to face the truth.”

For Suzy Jackson. It’s true.

Trauma Informed World was inspired by Kopika and Tharnicaa; two faces that remind us everyday of Australia’s cruel refugee system. One of many systems in Australia that remind us of the negative operation of power. #HomeToBilo

Kopika (left) and Tharnicaa (right) were kept at Christmas Island Detention Centre for nearly two years despite trauma informed calls to return them to Biloela, Queensland. Tharnicaa has spent most of her life detained by the Australian Government and is still in community detention to this day. #YouBelong

***Since the creation of this website the Biloela family were released from detention, returned to Biloela and granted permanent protection in Australia. However, hundreds more people still remain stuck in a system that requires urgent reform.***

New Kaldor Centre policy brief proposes reforms to Australia’s temporary protection system | Kaldor Centre:

You can listen my talk with Dr Cathy Kezelman AM, the President of Blue Knot Foundation on my own healing journey, training and study and how it has informed my work and advocacy for a trauma informed world here:

Trauma Informed World acknowledges and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which this educational resource was inspired. I acknowledge and respect Elders past, present and emerging. I honour the continuation of educational, cultural and spiritual practices and celebrate the extraordinary diversity of people and relationships worldwide. This website contains images of deceased persons. There are also swear words in some of the songs presented that portray intense emotions. This website is not intended to trigger people who have experienced trauma. However, if you do find any of the content triggering, each page has a link to Australia’s National Helplines and Websites for immediate mental health support. These are my own personal views and comments and may not reflect the views of my employer.

To provide the best information possible, Beyond Blue has listed national helplines and external services. All services linked to Beyond Blue are reviewed before they are posted.

This is a free educational website on Trauma Informed Care for survival and wellbeing. While each injustice differs, all stories share the same trauma: the negative operation of power. Let’s break the cycle of injustice and trauma together one day at a time. The byproduct of clarity is peace. Joy is peace dancing. Trauma is disconnection. Empathy fuels connection. Knowledge is power: “Love is the absence of judgment.” – His Holiness the Dalai Lama. #YouBelong
